Custom Made Redwood Office Door
Fortunately, our shop in Downtown Los Angeles included a tiny office, which we have slowly decked out with a desktop, shelving, and coffee stand. Unfortunately, the door that came with the office was a solid brown version of ugly. I decided to build a new one out of some Redwood scraps that I’ve been saving for a good long while. The frame was made from reclaimed Redwood and the interior was made from some choice Redwood Burl. So thrilled with how our office is coming together.
Arbor Exchange Has Moved to Downtown Los Angeles
Arbor Exchange has moved to Downtown Los Angeles. We are on the 2nd floor of the Allied Crafts Building, situated in the heart of the Fashion District. The district serves as a wonderfully vibrant cultural and community hub. We are loving the open floor plan, big windows, natural light, and creative energy of our new home.
Introducing the Prouvé Table
I’m thrilled to introduce the latest addition to our growing Minimal Collection. A big welcome to the Prouvé Table, a design that has been living in my head for several years and then slowly came to life after dozens of sketches and building a few small prototypes.
Introducing the Pedestal Table
I’m excited to introduce our newest collection piece - the Pedestal Table. The base is our updated take on Eero Saarinen’s tulip table, which he designed in the mid-1950s. Instead of being made from molded fiberglass or cast aluminum, our base is made from solid wood.
Sequoia and Redwood Writing Desk
We recently made a writing desk from a few of my prized lumber possessions that I have been hoarding for a few years. The top is old-growth Sequoia that was harvested after a fire knocked it down in the 1980s in Sequoia National Forest.
Rift Sawn White Oak Kitchen Nook Table
Sometimes you just need the perfect size piece of furniture for a very specific area in the home. This table, made from solid Rift Sawn White Oak, was one of those pieces. My client needed a table that was exactly 59” X 30.5” for her kitchen nook area. The base also needed to be designed with ample legroom and the ability to easily get in and out from around the table.
Custom Made White Oak Cabinet and Bookcase
I’m really happy with the way this custom cabinet/bookcase came out. Made from (mostly) solid White Oak and measuring 120” wide x 20” deep x 92” tall. It features adjustable shelving, soft close doors, an interior shelf and hardware from Rejuvenation. We had to build it in 5 sections to accommodate a tight staircase and it still has a really nice symmetry about it.
Custom Made Whiskey Cabinet
This whiskey cabinet was made from locally salvaged Redwood and measures 36” tall X 24” wide X 15” deep. My client really wanted steel mesh for the doors, but otherwise gave me lots of design space on this one. So many little details really brought this together! Waterfall edge with subtle splines, brass plated steel mesh, floating back panels, hidden magnets, brass knobs from Schoolhouse, and brass barrel hinges from Rockler.
Block + Stool (or) Planter (or) Side Table
These Block+Stools were born out of these experiments. They work great as plant stands, end tables, or even stools as you can flip them over and use them for seating. Each one is original and the shape, wood species, and sizes are purely determined by the wood scraps we have left.
Introducing the Raleigh Table
The Raleigh dining table has many of my favorite elements all rolled into one. The top has a custom contour that is made from a template and then painstakingly hand shaped for the perfect feel and look. The underside of the tabletop features a 15-degree soft bevel, which leaves the top edge at 3/4” thick and gives it a more minimal, streamlined look. The straight grain of rift sawn White Oak has beautiful light brown tones and will age beautifully with the natural oil finish.
Introducing the Modern Picnic Table
This one is for the campers out there, the porch sitters, the outdoor junkies, the wine tasters, the bird watchers, the meals under stringed lights lovers, and the barbecue savants. Introducing the modern picnic table, designed over several years and culminating in something I’m really proud of.
