Saying Goodbye to arbor exchange
After 15 wonderful years, it’s time to say goodbye.
What began as a small business in a garage grew into something beyond my wildest dreams. From that humble garage to a vibrant retail store, and finally to a 3,000-square-foot studio in downtown LA’s Fashion District, Arbor Exchange has been a journey built on wood, stories, friendship, and a lot of sweat.
It’s been my great privilege to craft pieces that have found homes with so many of you!
But every chapter must end, and I’m excited to begin a new one. I recently founded the Forgotten Lands Project and am stepping into a writing and photography career in the conservation world — a pursuit that feels just as deeply rooted and meaningful as furniture making. After five years of research and travel throughout California, my debut book, The Enduring Wild, arrives in bookstores June 24.
If you enjoy nature, art, and photography, I think you’ll love it. You can pre-order a copy here!
As I move on, I’m thrilled to pass the torch to my longtime apprentice and friend, Dennis Middleton of Copperhead Furniture, who acquired Arbor Exchange. Dennis and I finalized the sale in December, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead for him and his growing team!
He’ll be incorporating many of the designs that defined Arbor Exchange into his already compelling practice in Downtown Los Angeles, which includes timeless and original pieces across the furniture spectrum. If you’re looking for furniture for your clients, home or business, I wholeheartedly recommend reaching out to Dennis.

My heartfelt thanks to all of you for supporting this small business over the past 15 years — for the orders, the kind words, and the trust. I’ll carry it all with me into this next adventure.
With gratitude and excitement,
Josh Jackson
